How does molecular taxonomy for deriving river health indices correlate with traditional morphological taxonomy?

چکیده
Macroinvertebrate surveys are commonly used for assessing the health of freshwater systems around world. Traditionally, surveying involves morphologically identifying families, and sometimes genera, present in samples. Biological indices, derived from taxonomic lists, provide convenient ways to summarise community data may be fairly insensitive species-level changes compositions. In recent years, molecular techniques taxa have become increasingly popular metabarcoding approaches that offer ability identify species mixtures whole animals (bulk-samples) or environmental samples gained much attention. However, generating accurate lists metabarcode is challenging can impacted by sample type, choice primers, composition within samples, availability reference sequences. This study compares performance extracted bulk-samples against morphological calculating two biological indices (the Stream Invertebrate Grade Number Average Level 2 (SIGNAL2), which calculated family-level data, a genus-level equivalent this index, SIGNAL_SG) one metric (taxon richness). Further, metrics global, local mixed DNA libraries with varying degrees filtering processes applied them, compared respect strength their relationships metrics. Molecularly SIGNAL2 SIGNAL_SG scores correlated strongly scores, were strongest when using library containing mix global data. richness moderately richness; however, correlations observed could not assigned SIGNAL grades omitted analyses. highlights utility as an objective sensitive alternative traditional assessment macroinvertebrates.

Deriving a Large-Scale Taxonomy from Wikipedia
We take the category system inWikipedia as a conceptual network. We label the semantic relations between categories using methods based on connectivity in the network and lexicosyntactic matching. As a result we are able to derive a large scale taxonomy containing a large amount of subsumption, i.e. isa, relations. We evaluate the quality of the created resource by comparing it with ResearchCyc...
متن کاملMolecular and morphological taxonomy of Pythium species isolated from soil in West Azarbaijan province (N.W. Iran)
Pythium is a fungus-like genus with worldwide distribution that is found in most terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. It is a species-rich genus contains important plant pathogenic species. Little is known on the systematics of Pythium in West Azarbaijan province (N.W. Iran). Thus, the aim of this study was to identify 200 isolates collected from different cultivated soils of West Azarbaijan pro...
متن کاملCOVID-19; History, Taxonomy, and Diagnostic Molecular and Immunological Techniques
In recent years, viral epidemics such as the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) have spread, and this outbreak is thought to be the result of animal-to-human transmission. Hence, accurate diagnostic tests to detect COVID-19 and antiviral antibodies in infected individuals are of utmost importance. This report describes the structure, history, taxonomy, and molecular and immunological techniques for...

The invertebrates are one of the most important terrestrial fauna and freshwater taxa.Benthic macroinvertebrates include aquatic insects and spiders, mites, crustaceans, andspecies of mollusks and worms that are aquatic in their immature stages and terrestrial intheir adult stage. Jajrud River originates from the Alborz Mountains and is a source of<br ...
